Hey hey,
Wanted to share my thoughts on the potential new WACs that can/will directly impact local foster parents. Here in Washington state we introduced Prudent Parenting which takes the spirit of the law and common sense parenting approach to how we parent foster children. Now to comply with Federal standards Washington state will have to stop common sense parenting i.e. Prudent Parenting. I will attach a PDF below but I want to address several items that "seem" good but in truth will hurt us.
These are the 3 that jump out St my and my thoughts, what do you think?

Applicants must be able to communicate WAC revision and policy revision
provide for children in my care?
- Sounds great doesn't it, but what happens when there isn't a foster home available that speaks the yourha language? Per this Federal guideline the youth cannot be placed in a home because their language is not fluently spoken. A quick Google search states there are 350 languages spoken in the USA and are they all represented in the foster care system? If there is a foster home available for the youth place them, don't allow them to stay in group care center!

All children who are household members
requirements for the children placed must be up to date with AAP, the CDC, in my home? unless immunization is contrary to child's health and documented by LHP.
-This was a hot button issue that I am on the fence of. My concern is that this will lead to the loss of current and potential foster parents, especially in rural areas where the need is the greatest.

Pools must be equipped with a life saving Minor WAC revision. bodies of water? device, such as a ring buoy. Pools that cannot be emptied after each use, WAC revision. Must have a working pump and filtration system. Swimming pools must have a barrier on all WAC revision requiring barrier (fence) on all sides.
-Again sounds good on the surface but I would agree the following. If the pool is above ground and had 5 foot tall walls and requires a ladder to access the pool and you remove the ladder when not in use meets Prudent Parenting. If I have the same pool and remove the ladder when not in use how much safer is it if I follow Federal Guidelines and build a 4 foot fence around the pool?
